PostSubject: Bernadette & Persi: Walking in a Winter Wonderland   Thu Sep 19 2013, 18:59

Persi: The day after the eventful 'scavenger hunt', Persi was pacing the length of the Christmas floor. He marched down one end, before he hit the end of the hall and turned around, marching right back in the direction he had just travelled.

He had been pacing in his room at first, but then worried he might be disturbing his room mate. The North Wind had apparently gotten into a fight - or rather, been on the 'losing end' of one - the day before, and Persi didn't want to bother him with his nervous fidgeting.

He wasn't exactly sure why he had so much nervous energy. He was debating with himself if was too early to go to Bernadette's room. Probably not - she almost always just left her door open, and had already told him more than once he was welcome in whenever he wanted. He was also debating if it was too early to ask her if she was still interested in going to Christmas Town with him again.

With every step he took, the purple jingle bell tied around his neck bounced against his metal chest slightly, letting off a little tinkle of noise every single time it did. He stopped and held it in the palm of his hand, smiling at it as he decided he might as well just go and ask instead of wondering if he was being too pushy about it.

Clanking hurriedly down the stairs with his metal feet, he headed for the female Thanksgiving dorms. As expected, Bernadette's door was open, and he knocked on it and stood in the doorway - as he always did - before he entered.

"Good morning, Bernadette!" He chirped happily. ( ^ u ^ ) "How are you today?" He was, of course, wearing the brown scarf she had given him several days prior in combination with the purple bell she had tied around his neck as part of the scavenger hunt.

Bernadette: After waking up later than she normally allowed herself to, she pulled on a pair of argyle leggings, some colorful socks, a flouncy skirt and completed her (already too formal for her own tastes) ensemble with a t-shirt and one of her hoodies. She wasn't sure why she gravitated toward the few brighter colors in her wardrobe that day, but she had. There was hardly any brown on her at all.

She heard the knocking on her door shortly after she opened it and had put a red bow on either side of her head, while she was lying flat on her back and contemplating whether or not to kidnap Persi and go to Christmastown. She swung her legs back and forth as she called, "Good morning!" and sat up on her elbows to look at her visitor. "Come on in! I was just about to go look for you," she said (mostly truthfully).

Bernadette hopped out of her bed and was about to make her way to Persi when she twirled and made her bed perfectly instead-- making sure the four corners of the bottom sheet were still tightly fitted underneath the mattress and the top sheet still had its perfect hospital corners. After spending an unnecessarily long time making sure the squares on her quilt were at a perfect 90 degree angle with the bed itself, she frowned and turned to look at Persi pleadingly. She was too late, though, because he appeared to be fixing it already, still as cheerful as he originally sounded.

She couldn't help but wonder if he thought her habits were annoying, but was able to push the thought away with some difficulty. "Thank you," she said quietly, a blush rising on her cheeks. She fiddled with the pencils on her desk in lieu of asking him if he wanted to go back to Christmastown.

"S-so," she started hopelessly. "Any plans for today?"

Persi: Though it wasn't that often Persi was around to assist in the making of her bed in the morning (Bernadette sometimes had it already done before he showed up at her door), he knew how she liked it done and he could make sure with 100% certainty the angles were correct as he adjusted the quilt for her.

With a tiny satisfied nod at their work, he dinged happily and gave her two thumbs up.

"I was actually hoping to ask you if you were still up for what we talked about yesterday?" He asked, fussing with the end of his scarf a little bit. Bernadette frowned and adjusted it for him so it was even, and he shuffled his feet for a moment for lack of anything else to do now that his scarf was straight and he didn't want to ruin it. Or maybe he did so she would adjust it again... but she may get annoyed if he messed it up almost as soon as she had just finished straightening it to begin with, so he refrained.

He didn't elaborate further on what he was referring to. He figured, if Bernadette didn't remember, then it wasn't a big deal. Maybe he could just bring it up again, as though it was a new idea. But if she DID remember, then she could simply confirm yes or no.

Catching himself staring at his red feet, he raised his bright blue eyes instead to meet her brown ones hesitantly. He smiled.

"If you remember, I mean..." He said so quietly, he thought it might've come out more like the sounds of gears working together in his chassis than his actual voice.

Bernadette: She jumped excitedly a few times and clapped her hands loudly.

"I was hoping you'd ask!" she cried. "I'd love to!"

A bit embarrassed at her own enthusiasm, she froze and rubbed her neck before shyly asking, "...c-could we go now?"

Persi: Relieved at her enthusiasm, he grabbed both of her hands and held them up as he smiled and leaned slightly so he was at eye level with her.

"If you're ready, of course! May I carry you?"

Bernadette: "Yes!!" She hurriedly grabbed a pair of red flats and shoved them on her feet before turning to look at Persi thoughtfully. She stared at him for a long moment as she slipped her flats on and put her thumb on her chin.

"I know you don't get cold, but..." She pursed her lips and trotted over to her closet, digging around for a moment. "How do you feel about clothes?" she asked absentmindedly as she dug through several boxes marked, 'handmade.'

Persi: Watching what she was doing curiously, he had an inkling why she might be asking, but...

"I have no qualms with wearing clothes." He answered, blinking a couple times.

Surely she wasn't offering him clothes? She had already given him a scarf... (Which he almost started to play with self-consciously again, but he caught his hands halfway through the reach and stopped.)

Bernadette: "Good. Well, not that I think you need to, but... clothes can be fun, right?" In truth, she felt like the first thing a family should do was clothe and feed each other. Since feeding was inapplicable in this case, clothing was the best option.

After rearranging a few of the sweaters and shorts and other various clothing items from one box to another, she selected the ones that looked like they were made with more care (she was ashamed of some of three things in all honesty. What was she, 6?), she heaved the box with a "Hup!" and plopped it on the bed.

"Help yourself!" she said, a blush creeping up on her cheeks as she said it. "It's all yours."

At his stunned silence, she removed a perfectly-folded pair of mid-calf-length pants and a sweater and tossed them at him. "Unless you don't like them?" she asked cautiously. Some of them did have an uneven number of stitches and other various flaws; she wouldn't want them. In fact, that's why they were in her closet. She either made them too long based on a incorrectly marked pattern (she was short and preferred to think that the patterns didn't accommodate for people of her size than think that she was painfully petite) or they were asymmetrical (when she voiced that to anyone else they insisted they couldn't tell, but she knew).

She hastily pulled her hood over her head and avoided Persi's line of vision.

Persi: "Clothes can be very fun!" Persi chirped happily, thinking of all the times he'd sorted through magazines and catalogues and racks and shelves picking out the perfect garments for the people he had been shopping for. Some of them had very specific lists, but other's put their faith in him to pick out things he knew they would like. That always made him feel so special, especially when their face lit up after unwrapping it...

When Bernadette placed a box of clothes on the bed and invited him to it, he froze, staring at the box.

Could... could he really just... dig in? She didn't look like she was kidding...

In his indecision, she tossed some items to him, which he caught before he had finished processing the fact that something was actually flying at him. He held out the pair of items, determining it was enough to form a simple outfit and he began to smile. All his facial plates had switched from their usual blue to pink instead.

"I love them, Bernadette!" He said enthusiastically, nodding his head several times as he clutched the garments to his chest. He looked around, wondering if he should find a more secluded spot to change. Not that he really needed to, but... he thought it would be only proper to do so.

With her hood pulled up, Bernadette was aware of him moving but not sure where he had gone when he ducked into her closet. He pulled the door closed slightly, and hurriedly yanked on the clothes.

On him, the pants came down to about his knees. If he moved in certain positions, a sliver of red from his upper legs could be seen. But standing still, it left only the grey interlocking metal of his shins exposed. The sweater was an entirely different story. Persi giggled slightly, imagining it on Bernadette instead. It seemed as though it would've had to have been a dress, because on him it was still quite large and almost hung down past his hips.

Tucking it loosely into the short-pants, he strode out of the closet and did a little twirl in front of Bernadette, who had since taken her hood down once she realized what he was doing.

"How do I look~ ?" He winked.

Bernadette: She couldn't help but smile crookedly at him.

"Quite handsome, I must say," she said with a bow. "I might have to dress up a bit more so I'm not too ashamed of my own lackluster appearance to be in the same room as you." Knowing full well she was laying it on really think, she was blushing brightly and her eyebrows were tilting upward. All she wanted was for him to show some emotion-- some good, true emotion that went past his emotive screens-- emotion that made it so you could see into him.

Catching herself thinking that, though, she bit her lip and crossed the room to check the mirror and adjust the bows on her head. She didn't want to break him, either. It was a tough balance to find.

Persi: "Don't you dare imply your beauty is lackluster." Persi shot back in a mock-offended voice, though he returned her bow graciously and stood up with another wink.

He wondered if maybe he had crossed a line when she started fussing with her bows instead of interacting with him some more. But at the same time, she might have just felt one of them slipping out of place, and wanted to make sure they were aligned. He walked over and peeked in the mirror from behind her.

"May I?" He asked, before making an adjustment to one of the bows that would've looked like to anyone else hadn't even made a difference. However, Persi knew he had adjusted it .35 degrees to be at the perfect angle Bernadette liked to wear her bows on both sides. He gave her a thumbs up again and beamed a wide grin. "Ready to go?"

Bernadette: Blushing furiously now, she busied herself with fixing his scarf (even though it was fine) and then nodded at his question.

"Absolutely!" With this, she jumped up into his arms and wrapped her arms around his neck tightly. With the extra layers, he would probably be warmer this time. She hadn't thought about that, but it was a good bonus. Blinking for a second, though, she said, "Wait. Are there means of currency exchange in Christmastown?"

After a nod from Persi (with a ^u^ expression), she snatched her bear satchel from her nightstand, unwrapping her arms from around his neck and leaning forward, but not getting out of his arms to do so. She draped it over her right shoulder, allowing the bear-shaped messenger bag to fall over her left side.

"Okay, now I am!" She got comfortable in his arms and laid her head on his chest plate. The sweater might not have been perfect, but it helped make her best friend more comfortable, and Bernadette was all for anything that did that.

Persi: Though he was curious why she would want to bring the satchel, he said nothing and merely nodded, before skipping out her door and down the hallway towards the lift. He seemed to be doing a lot of skipping ever since he copied Ms. Blanc doing it the previous day.

Into the lift and down, he continued skipping all the way to the holiday doors, when he finally put Bernadette down and did a little bow before holding her hand.

"Would you like to, or should I?" He asked, tilting his head towards the brightly polished door knob, made to look like a decorative bulb on the Christmas tree-themed door.

Bernadette: Her eyes grew about as wide as the ornaments on the door as she approached it, slowly raising her hand to turn the knob. Won't it smudge? Will it smear if I take my hand off too quickly? Is it sanitary? How many people have touched it? Do they ever clean these doors? Why is it uneven with the rest of the ornaments on the tree? These questions and many more running through her mind, she grasped the knob, turned it gently and the door practically flew open. She didn't have to put much effort into opening it at all due to the fierce, freezing wind that carried a thick curtain of snowflakes into the forest they were currently standing in.

She seemed to switch to auto-pilot as she grabbed Persi's hand and jumped into the hollow tree-- thoughts of mismatching trees and insanitary doorknobs were far behind her as she landed on the snow and sunk into almost a solid foot of the white powder.

"It's cold!" she cried, but more as a declaration than a complaint. The fuzzy lights shone brightly as she trudged down the hill and her eyes grew wider with each step. In her haste, she almost forgot Persi was there at all until she nearly tripped and he caught her as easily as if she were a dinner plate or a small book rather than a small girl nearing 100 pounds.

"All of these lights are electric?" she asked, stumbling over the last word a bit as Persi steadied her. "There must be over a thousand lights on that tree alone! We don't have anything like this in Thanksgiving Town! How do they string them together so nicely? Are there always an even number of lights on every strand, or do they count? How many colors do they come in?" She asked every question that came to her mind the instant it was there, not caring that if she had been asking a human all of these questions they wouldn't have been able to keep up.

"Where does S-..Sahntah live? Do the reindeer really fly? How high? Are we actually on the North Pole on the Other Side or is that just where the portal to the real Christmastown is? How many jinglebells do you think are on that tree or on Santa's sleigh?" She just rattled the questions off as they came, leaving no room for Persi to answer any of them until she got distracted by stepping on a patch of ice. She looked as if she was going to fall, but after slipping an inch or so, she held out her arms and stood very still. In Thanksgiving Town, what little ice they got would have cracked if you stood on it. Petrified, she became fixated on one of the red bows on her flats (it was askew) and tried not to breathe as she reached down for it instead of moving off of the ice.
